Contrairement aux débuts du four, les fabricants ont porté énormément d’attention à la sécurité de leurs produits durant la dernière décennie. Une innovation importante est la façade froide. Concrètement, cela signifie que la porte du four est équipée de 3 à 4 verres, ce qui fait drastiquement tomber la température sur la face extérieure du four. Une protection rassurante pour les petites mains des enfants.
Les fours plus sophistiqués sont en plus équipés d’un système de refroidissement permettant de diminuer la température autour de l’appareil et du meuble. Grâce à cela, le panneau de contrôle et la poignée restent froids et aucune condensation ne se forme. Le refroidissement s’effectue en général au moyen d’un ventilateur tournant lentement.
La majorité des appareils est pourvue d’une sécurité pour les enfants. Une fois la sécurité activée, les fonctions du four ne peuvent être déverrouillées qu’en appuyant une certaine combinaison de touches.
